(Spring Semester begins 4/10)
Little RocknRollers: Babies is the perfect first music class for your infant to 1 year old. The class is designed for babies that are held, sitting up or crawling. Karyn leads the group by singing and playing her acoustic guitar. She uses original songs, traditional children's music and music from many other genres such as classical, rock, reggae, jazz, salsa and more.
Through repetitive listening and the use of colorful, easy to grasp instruments your baby unconsciously absorbs basic musical concepts such as pitch, rhythm, melody, dynamics and tempo. As your baby gets closer to 6 months and older you will see them vocalizing, moving to the music, tapping on drums, shaking shakers and bells.
Music is a part of every culture and goes beyond language. Little RocknRollers: Babies offers a creative way to communicate with and deepen the bond with your pre-verbal child. The educational benefits of music begin in infancy and continue throughout life. Math skills are built with an emphasis on counting and rhythm. Words are absorbed effortlessly through song and children begin to verbalize with ease through repetitive singing.
Little RocknRollers: Toddlers picks up where Little RocknRollers: Babies leaves off. The class is designed for 1- 2.5 yr. olds that are walking, becoming verbal and very physically active. It's time to ROCK!
The musical concepts of pitch, rhythm, melody, dynamics and tempo absorbed in Little RocknRollers: Babies become more cognitively integrated. Children play their shakers, drums, bells with focus and enthusiasm. They learn to play high/low, fast/slow, loud/soft as well as simple rhythmic patterns. Organized movement is introduced such as dancing, jumping, stomping, spinning, clapping and kicking. The toddlers are encouraged to explore their physical potential in a safe, free and fun atmosphere.
Little RocknRollers: Toddlers provides excellent preparation for the pre-school experience. It gives your toddler an opportunity to follow directions, lengthen attention span, and develop social skills. Through modeling the behavior of parent/caregiver and teacher your child will learn to focus and engage in high spirited musical activity. They will take with them the most important concept: Music is fun!
Due to the overwhelming popularity of the guitar with young children, Little RocknRollers: Drum 'N Strum was created! The class is designed for children with rapidly developing cognitive, verbal and physical skills.
Little RocknRollers: Drum 'N Strum provides children with an introduction to the guitar. Karyn leads the group by singing and playing her acoustic guitar. The children play along with their very own child size guitar! They learn the proper way to hold it and the focus is kept mainly on the strumming hand. Using a guitar pick, playing simple strumming patterns, learning the names of the strings, and parts of the guitar will be some of your child's newly acquired musical skills.
Through the use of Karyn's original songs, printed visuals and steady focus on guitar and drums, your child's relationship to music deepens. Basic concepts previously explored in Little RocknRollers: Babies and Little RocknRollers: Toddlers such as pitch, rhythm, melody, dynamics and tempo are defined and integrated into your child's musical vocabulary.
With the use of hand drums, written musical notes and note values are introduced. Various rhythmic patterns are explored and children get a taste of being in the "spotlight" while doing "drum solos" for the class. Drummers 'n Strummers listen to, play along with, dance and move to songs from various genres such as rock, reggae, salsa, funk, jazz, classical and more.
A fun, educational, and rockin' musical experience from infancy to 4 years old. Karyn plays original songs, traditional children's music, and an eclectic mix of genres for young rockers to shake, drum, dance or strum along with!
